Explore Volunteering in the Northern Territory – Interactive Dashboard

Volunteers are the backbone of our communities, yet their contributions often go unheralded. At Arafura Data, we’ve created an interactive Power BI report that allows you to explore volunteering demographics across the Northern Territory using 2021 Census data.

Some interesting insights from the data:

• High volunteering rates are observed in a number of Darwin’s northern suburbs.

• Contrary to common misconception, there are healthy numbers of volunteers aged between 25 and 54 years.

• Community participation varies across regions, highlighting the areas where volunteerism is strongest.

With the interactive dashboard, you can:

• Explore volunteering patterns by SA2 regions.

• Filter by age brackets to see which groups contribute most.

• Compare your community’s volunteer participation against the NT average.

• Click on a locality on the map visual to drill through to your local community — this will also update the metrics in other visuals, such as age profiles and volunteer counts, to reflect your selected area.
